Public Private Community Alliance (PPCA) members assemble in Jiri for a planning meeting
ANSAB and Jiri Municipality jointly organized a PPCA (Public-Private-Community-Alliance for Sustainable Natural Products-based Enterprises and Local Economic Development) planning meeting in Jiri, Dolakha on February 5, 2020. Participants of the meeting included over 30 individuals including Mayor and Chief Administrative Officer of Jiri Municipality, Ward Chairpersons, ANSAB’s Executive Director and program staffs, agriculture focal point and agriculture technicians of Jiri Municipality, Chiefs of sub-division forest office and livestock development center, representatives of Federation of Community Forest Users (FECOFUN)-Jiri, Jiri Technical School, Jiri Chamber of Commerce and Industries, local enterprise – Everest Gateway, and famers group and cooperatives, who serve as the PPCA alliance members. This was the first the planning meeting organized after the PPCA planning workshop of November 2018 that promulgated Jiri Declaration on PPCA for Sustainable Natural and Organic Products-based Enterprises and Local Economic Development.
During the meeting, ANSAB on behalf of the organizers shared the list of activities carried out under PPCA program, and the potential list of activities based on the experience and lessons while implementing the program activities. Participants discussed on the potential activities and agreed to develop a plan of action based on these activities and meet at least twice a year.
ANSAB has developed and been implementing the Public-Private-Community-Alliance for Sustainable Natural Products-based Enterprises and Local Economic Development (PPCA) program in Jiri municipality in order to demonstrate and implement a socially and environmentally responsible local economic development model, which is expected to replicate in other areas.
