ANSAB is a civil society organization that has been working for biodiversity conservation and livelihoods improvement across South Asia for three decades. It places community empowerment and economic incentives at the heart of its approach, and has been consistently evolving, consolidating, institutionalizing and advancing the approaches and strategies for the promotion of community-based enterprises and value chains, natural resources management and biodiversity conservation, enabling policy environment and multi-stakeholders.
ANSAB is currently seeking young, energetic and career-oriented field-based candidates for the following positions for an EU funded Samvardhan – CSOs Actions for Resilient Ecosystem and Community Project, being implemented in partnership with ADRA Nepal in Banke and Bardiya districts. The detail of the positions with responsibilities, essential skills and qualifications are as follows:
Position: Forest Technician
Duty station: Banke
Duration: 2.5 years
Required number: 1
Major roles and responsibilities:
The Forest Technician will contribute to the following activities:
- Carry forest inventory and assessments
- Provide trainings to FUGs on sustainable forest management, NFSS and support in preparation and approval of forest management plans
- Support project’s sustainable forest management and biodiversity conservation activities, with technical backstopping
- Support FUGs on group management, leadership and good governance, accounting, and bookkeeping, GEDSI, PSEAH & inclusive leadership
- Implement field- based activities in their respective project areas
Qualification and skills:
- Minimum B.Sc. in forestry with 1 year of experience or I.Sc./diploma in forestry with three years of experience
- Good knowledge on community forestry, NTFPs, forest inventory, community forest handover process, and organizing community groups and local resource persons
- Ability to handle forest survey tools and equipment, and familiar with GIS
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills in English and Nepali
- Ability to plan and prioritize work under pressure and tight deadlines
- Proficient in using information technologies and good computer skills, particularly in the use of MS Office Package
- Motorbike riding skill with valid driving license
