The overall objective of the project is to transform natural resource dependent rural communities into commercially viable and sustainable entities. More specifically, it strives to:

  • Increase the access of rural communities to forest resources, technology, markets, financial and business development services;
  • Develop the capacity of rural poor (the target group) in the efficient and effective management of natural products based enterprises, and the marketing of their outputs;
  • Develop structured marketing systems and value added community enterprises to ensure increased incomes and equitable benefits to the rural communities; and
  • Promote sustainable harvesting of forest products by expanding community based, enterprise oriented resource management systems.
