The overall goal of this initiative is to ensure sustainability of the achievements attained, readjust where necessary, and explore future pathways to improve biodiversity conservation and foster sustainable local development in the region. More specifically, the project will:

  • Continue monitoring of land use practices in forests and farms, particularly looking at potentially persisting drivers of forest fires and forest degradation, wildlife conflicts, use of chemical farming inputs, etc.
  • Provide targeted backstopping support to the community level initiatives established under the earlier project, particularly the Namuna herbs processing enterprise, and the Participatory Guarantee System (PGS).
  • Assess the sustainability of past project interventions, and document lessons learned.
