ANSAB celebrates World Environment Day 2022
On the occasion of World Environment Day 2022, ANSAB and Division Forest Office-Nawalpur jointly organized a plantation program in Nawalpur district in partnership with Ankur Adarsha Community Forest Users Group, and in close coordination with the Kawasoti Municipailty and District Administration Office.
The event was participated by district level key stakeholders including Forest and Environment Protection Group of the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, elected ward and municipal representatives, community forest users’ groups, local community members, and government and development agencies working on the environment, forestry and agriculture sector. The Divisional Forest Officer and Chief District Officer jointly inaugurated the program by planting Cinnamon (Tejpat) seedling and delivering brief awareness messages on conservation and protection of the environment. During the event more than 100 seedlings of Cinnamon (Tejpat), River Tamarind (Ipil-Ipil), Teak, Kimbu (Nepali Mulberry) and few other ornamental plants were planted.
Every year, the World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5 to raise awareness about degrading environmental conditions and to encourage people globally to take positive environmental actions, to help create a better future. 2022 marks the 49th World Environment Day, and the theme for this year was ‘Only One Earth’.
This activity is a part of ‘Nature Conservation and Agroforestry Production in Rural Communities’ project implemented in Nawalpur district by ANSAB and Manfred-Hermsen-Stiftung for Nature and Environment with generous support by the International Climate Initiative (IKI), on behalf of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety (BMU), Germany.
