ANSAB celebrates World Earth Day 2022

ANSAB held series of events in Nawalpur district to commemorate the World Earth Day-2022. To mark the Earth day, ANSAB in partnership with the Sahid Smriti Community Secondary School and in close coordination with Divisional Forest Office, Nawalpur, carried out awareness raising activities, that included street rally, orientation on environmental-friendly activities to school students, and demonstration of waste management.

A rally was organized in Kawasoti Municipality, that was participated by the school students, school teachers, Nepal Police, representatives from Divisional Forest Office and local government bodies, and people working on the environment, forestry and agriculture sector. Slogan banners, ply cards and face paint were demonstrated in the rally with message to preserve and conserve our nature by rallying throughout the streets, highways and some major parts of Kawasoti Municipality. At the end of the rally, the participants gathered at the premise of the Divisional Forest Office in Nawalpur, where staffs from the Divisional Forest Office and ANSAB shared to the participants on the history of earth day, and the importance of human behavior to tackle the growing issue of global warming, climate change, biodiversity loss and the environmental crisis.

In another event held at the Sahid Smriti Community Secondary School, students demonstrated sorting out of wastes by segregating the biodegradable, non-biodegradable and hazardous wastes within the school area. For this, ANSAB supported the school with 3 different dustbins for each type of wastes. ANSAB also supported in preparing name tags for trees with scientific names and fitting in 84 trees of different species within the school premise, that will help the students in identifying the trees. The students were further encouraged to promote healthy environmental practices in and outside the school.

Every year, the Earth day is celebrated on April 22. The theme of the Earth day for this year was ‘Invest in Our Planet’. The theme advocated all individuals and businesses around the globe to invest and switch to greener technologies and practices.

This activity is a part of ‘Nature Conservation and Agroforestry Production in Rural Communities’ project implemented in Nawalpur district by ANSAB and Manfred-Hermsen-Stiftung for Nature and Environment with generous support by the International Climate Initiative (IKI), on behalf of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety (BMU), Germany.
