ANSAB and the Department of Forest and Soil Conservation jointly organize a CITES policy review workshop

ANSAB and the Department of Forests and Soil Conservation, jointly organized a CITES policy review workshop on March 25, 2022. During the workshop, policy related opportunities and challenges for the sustainable harvesting and trade of CITES-listed plant species in Nepal was shared and discussed that would be helpful in easing the collection, transportation and trading of those species in Nepal. Altogether 21 participants, including the Director General of the Department of Forest and Soil Conservation, Director General of the Department of Plant Resources, Deputy Director General of the Department of National Park and Wildlife Conservation, Divisional Forest Offices, NTFP-based commodity associations, processing and trading company, community forest representatives including from Karnali, and ANSAB participated in the workshop.

This workshop is a part of the ‘Himalayan plants for people: Sustainable trade for biodiversity and development’ project funded by the UK Government’s Darwin Initiative and implemented in Nepal jointly by ANSAB and TRAFFIC with endorsement of the Ministry of Forests and Environment.
