FSC IGI public consultation in Nepal
In order to support Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) in developing International Generic Indicators (IGIs), ANSAB organized two meetings of IGI working group on February 18 and March 3, 2014 and a two-day national workshop on March 21-22, 2014 in Kathmandu during the public consultation period. FSC Secretariat has developed a set of IGIs to operationalize the Principles and Criteria Version 5 (P&C V5) approved by the FSC Board of Directors in February 2012 and to ensure their consistent application across the globe. This process will improve and strengthen the credibility of the FSC System.
The IGI working group members and the participants of the workshop represented three chambers – environmental, social and environmental, and discussed more closely on the IGI draft 2 for providing suggestions to the IGI working committee. The findings from the IGI working group was also shared at the FSC Asia Pacific IGI Regional Workshop, Hong Kong by ANSAB’s Research, Planning and Communication Manager – Sudarshan Khanal, who is also an IGI Ambassador appointed by FSC.
